Resident of San Leandro
Ronald Lyle Beals (Ronnie) passed away peacefully with his beloved wife and family at his bedside on New Years Day at the age of 57. Born in Deadwood South Dakota to Thelma Lee Bates of Wyoming and Harold Willis Beals of California, the family moved to the bay area in 1960 where Ronnie, his brother Tim and sister Cathy were raised and attended school in Oakland. He attended Bret Harte Middle School and Oakland High Class of 1974.
Ronnie loved exploring the Oakland hills, riding dirt bikes and old school motorcycles, surfing, collecting classic cars and attending car shows. At the young age of 12, he worked at his Uncle Lyle's gas station in Alameda on Otis Drive near the beach. He later worked for Foreign Auto and West Winton Auto Wreckers as an auto dismantler, Oakland International Airport, Mobil and Shell gas stations as a service attendant and tow truck driver, Paul Bennett's Auto service as a mechanic and Coliseum Landscaping as a landscaper.
Ronnie married his high school sweetheart Ann Bennett of Oakland and have one son, Travis Beals. His family currently resides in San Leandro where they still stay in touch with their East Oakland neighborhood friends. Ron's brother Tim Beals resides in Santa Cruz, California.
A special thanks to the Oakland 70's Survivors Club, close friends and many Bates, Beals and Bennett relatives around the world for reaching out to the family. Please make donations to the Alameda County Food Bank of Oakland in his memory at (http://www.accfb.org/donation/).
